A carp is a cautious and cunning fish. Fishing it from the shore is a kind of lottery because the successful result depends more on notorious fisher’s luck than on your skills and equipment.
Fishing carp from a float is not the same thing as it has lots of advantages
- First of all, you have the freedom of movement, so you can reach the tightest places which is impossible from the shore.
- Secondly, in contrast to fishing from the coast, you have an opportunity to change your location as many times as you need to find the best one.
- Thirdly, you don’t have to carry all the equipment and gear, for example, rods, bucket containers with the supplement and something to eat, on your back.
- Moreover, there is no need to fish carp on a far cast.
To fish carp with a float you usually go far away from the shore. You need an echo sounder to measure depth and to find a suitable place, and it also helps you to identify where there is a school of fish.
If you don’t have an echo sounder, you can make your own using fishing line and hard conical equipment which is attached to the end of the line.
According to the results of the measurements, you choose the best location which is remote from the shore, cane and other seaweeds. It may be a deep water place near lots of reeds and bushes, deep shelf break, old creek beds, places between water lilies. Little carps are often on a sandbar.
They prefer to stay in deep water places during summer and autumn while in spring they are often near the flat plateaus which are surrounded by 4-6 meters depths.
